About

AppLanes adds the split tunnelling macOS never had. Every app gets a lane you choose: through your VPN tunnel, straight out over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, or cut off from the network entirely, and it applies to the next connection rather than requiring a reconnect. Because each connection is steered by the process that opened it, a helper process follows its parent, so Chrome's networking helper obeys the rule you set for Chrome. It is not a VPN itself; it works with the tunnel you already pay for, whether that is WireGuard, OpenVPN, IKEv2 or an app from NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, Proton or Mullvad, and it needs no account and no server. A live feed shows every connection as it opens, with the app, the destination and the lane it took, and if the tunnel drops, VPN-routed apps can be held back until it returns instead of quietly leaking. Routing runs inside a macOS network system extension, which asks for your approval once in System Settings. It needs macOS 13 or later.
