About
ExtraBar adds a second bar of icons and controls with its own actions, so the things you use constantly do not have to share the one menu bar macOS provides. It is made by the same studio as CoolDock and shows the same preference for local, account-free tools.

Includes everything from the 1.7.2 beta. Build 173.
New
- Launcher widget: Open the Launcher straight from your bar. Add it with Add → Add Launcher Widget and click the magnifying glass to search everything in your preset — your bar stays exactly as it is. Works on the floating bar, in notch mode and in menu bar mode, with an Open Launcher shortcut in Hotkeys and in the bar's right-click menu. The Launcher also gets ready in the background after ExtraBar starts, so it opens faster the first time.
- Sort A–Z: Put everything in alphabetical order with one click in Settings → Apps & Widgets, the folder widget editor and the menu editors. It sorts by the names you see, keeps dividers in place, sorts each section on its own, and always asks first.
Improved
- Fewer Keychain password prompts — your license is now stored securely without asking for your Mac password. Your action-link token and Shiori sign-in are stored the same way. If macOS asks one more time after you update, that's the last time.
Earlier
1.7.138 built-in themes for Launcher mode: Glass styles (including real Liquid Glass), terminal themes (Dracula, Catppuccin, Tokyo Night, Nord, Gruvbox, Solarized, One Dark, Rosé Pine and more), Neon, Minimal and 3D themes with depth, tilt and glowing borders.
🎨 New: Launcher Themes
- 38 built-in themes for Launcher mode: Glass styles (including real Liquid Glass), terminal themes (Dracula, Catppuccin, Tokyo Night, Nord, Gruvbox, Solarized, One Dark, Rosé Pine and more), Neon, Minimal and 3D themes with depth, tilt and glowing borders.
- Make your own: customize colors, border, glow, font, row style and blur, or use a solid color or a gently moving pattern, with a live preview.
- Share themes: import and export themes as files.
- Find it in Settings → Launcher Themes or the new Themes button at the bottom of the Launcher.
📥 New: Collapse Bar
- Fold the floating bar into a single icon and click it to bring the bar back (top of the Collapse Mode settings page).
- Choose the button's position and look, or hide it and use a shortcut (Hotkeys → Collapse / Expand Bar). Also available from the right-click menu; a collapsed bar is remembered after a relaunch.
- Works with the floating bar only. It pauses in menu bar, notch and Launcher modes, and while "Collapse into a Menu" is on or the app menu is merged into the bar as one icon.
🪟 New: Real Liquid Glass
- On macOS 26, the Liquid Glass background uses the same real glass as the macOS Dock. A new Glass Look option (Regular or Clear) is in Appearance, and your tint still applies. Earlier macOS versions keep the previous look.
🔗 New: DockFlow logo in the DockFlow widget
- With a Logo style picker: Color, Monochrome, Dark, White, Simple Black and Simple White.
⚡ Smoother and lighter
- The Launcher opens more smoothly, including the first time after launch.
- Presets switch in one smooth step.
- Hovering the bar, adding or removing items, and editing icons no longer redraw the whole bar.
- Menu bar mode and notch auto-hide use much less CPU while idle.
- Moving the pointer over Launcher results no longer scrolls the list.
🛠 Fixes
- New Window stays on your Space: ExtraBar uses the app's own File → New Window menu and only brings the app forward once the window is on your current Space. Chrome, Safari and others no longer jump you to another Space.
- Safari with profiles: New Window opens a regular window instead of leaving Safari's New Window menu open.
- If an app doesn't open a new window, ExtraBar no longer switches you to its windows on another Space.
- In notch mode, approval prompts no longer disappear when the bar auto-hides.
1.6.3Connect Your Appit Studio Apps: ExtraBar, DockFlow and ExtraDock now find each other automatically in a new Integrations library, with no more pairing codes.
🔗 New: Integrations Library
- Connect Your Appit Studio Apps: ExtraBar, DockFlow and ExtraDock now find each other automatically in a new Integrations library, with no more pairing codes.
- DockFlow in ExtraBar: Open Settings → Talk Integrations, select DockFlow, review what ExtraBar may do (see your presets, switch presets, get live updates) and press Connect. You can also start the connection from DockFlow's own Integrations library.
- Reconnects on Its Own: Approve a connection once and it comes back by itself after restarts.
- You Stay in Control: Seeing your presets is required; switching presets and live updates are optional and can be changed later. DockFlow does not gain any control over ExtraBar.
- Works With: DockFlow 1.85 or later.
🛠 Fixed: Misleading License Renewal Screen
- Accurate License Status: If ExtraBar couldn't check your license after an upgrade (for example, because you were offline), it could wrongly say your updates had expired and ask you to renew. It now says it was unable to verify this version and offers Refresh License, so you only see the renewal options when your updates have really expired.
- Copy Diagnostics: A new Copy Diagnostics button copies technical details for support. License keys and device identifiers are never included.

1.6.2Your Icons Travel With You: Exported presets now bundle every custom icon they use, including icons inside folder widgets, so importing on another Mac shows your icons instead of the defaults.
📦 Improved: Custom Icons in Preset Exports
- Your Icons Travel With You: Exported presets now bundle every custom icon they use, including icons inside folder widgets, so importing on another Mac shows your icons instead of the defaults.
- One Tidy File: Exports are saved as a single .extrabar file holding your preset and its icons together.
- No Duplicate Icons: On import, icons you already have are recognized and reused, so your icon library stays clean.
- Older Exports Still Work: Preset files exported by earlier versions of ExtraBar import just like before.
- Private by Design: Only the icons themselves are exported, never the file paths they came from.
