About
Codex is OpenAI's coding agent for building features, refactoring, reviewing code, and running routine engineering tasks, with several agents working in parallel through built-in worktrees and cloud environments. On the Mac it now runs inside the ChatGPT desktop app, which replaced the standalone Codex app in 2026. The same agent is also available as a CLI and an IDE extension, all tied to one ChatGPT account.
