About

Hush puts two generated sounds in the menu bar: brown noise and a speech blocker shaped to mask nearby voices. A right-click on the icon starts or stops the sound, and a left-click opens a small panel for the sound type, the volume and a low-pass cutoff that makes the brown noise deeper or lighter. Both sounds are synthesized in real time rather than played from audio files, and the app works fully offline. Native Swift, notarized, no account and no analytics. Free with an optional pay-what-you-want price, open source under MIT, and it needs macOS 13 or later.
