About
Cap records a screen, a window or the camera, then opens a studio editor where the recording becomes a project: trim clips, cut out silences, and add a background, padding, rounded corners, captions and a title before exporting at 4K or 60fps. Recordings can be shared as a link with a password, a custom domain and viewer analytics, or kept entirely local. The desktop app is open source under AGPL-3.0 and free, and can be self-hosted; the paid tier covers hosted cloud storage, transcripts, automatic titles and team workspaces. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and macOS 13.1 or later is recommended.
