About

Wallspace plays video as the desktop wallpaper, from a browsable library of 4K clips with per-display choices, playlists, auto-rotation and a search that understands what you are looking for. Your own MP4s can be dropped in as custom wallpapers, and on macOS 26 the animation can extend to the lock screen as well. It is written in Swift and is careful about battery: playback is tuned to stay around two percent of CPU and pauses when it should. It is a free download with a one-time Pro upgrade that unlocks the rest of the library and the custom-wallpaper tools, and it needs macOS 15 or later.
